Adventurers' Trail in East Singapore
Gear up for some thrilling activities to get the heart pumping!
Sometimes, a little adventure is all we need to get a burst of energy back in our lives. East Singapore is home to a slew of stimulating activities for all ages, from exploring other Singaporean islands off the coast of the mainland, to daring sports and endeavours to gain new experiences and even learn a little more about yourself along the way. Here are four suggestions for ways to satisfy your appetite for adventure:
Pulau Ubin is Singapore’s last “kampong” area, with a pleasant lack of modern architecture and buildings to distract you from the beauty of the natural wilderness. With only a few inhabitants and houses on the island, one can expect a day of trekking or cycling along the nature trails and admiring the flourishing flora and fauna on the way. If you’re feeling more adventurous, you could even camp there for a day at their Jelutong, Mamam or Endut Senin campsites and experience the night outdoors on the quiet island.
One of the biggest draws is the Chek Jawa Wetlands, one of Singapore’s richest ecosystems where six habitats are combined and interact with each other. The Chek Jawa Wetlands has a boardwalk with two loops where visitors can learn more about the local wildlife, as well as the Jejawi Tower where visitors may view the surrounding area from a vantage point and spot local and migratory birds. Pulau Ubin is only accessible by bumboat, which you can take from Changi Point Ferry Terminal.
Changi Point Ferry Terminal is a short 25-min car ride, or a 40-min ride on bus 2 from Capri by Fraser, Changi City / Singapore.
What about some high elements to challenge yourself? Forest Adventure offers an adrenaline-inducing treetop obstacle course where you can walk through wobbly crossings and “fly” above water bodies with ziplines. The young ones can join in too with Forest Adventure’s Junior Course and Kids Course, where they’ll face over 20 exhilarating obstacles and zip lines to quench their thirst for adventure!
Situated in the Bedok Reservoir area, you’ll find yourself appreciating the lush green trees and the stunning waters while walking through the high elements courses. Accessible by bus and car, Forest Adventure truly is the ideal destination to take you out of your comfort zone and escape from the rat race.
Take bus 5 from Upper Changi Station/ SUTD or 15-min car ride from Capri by Fraser, Changi City / Singapore.
Singapore Wake Park
Drop by the Singapore Wake Park for some exhilarating cable-skiing! Cable skiing is a water sport where the skier is pulled by an electric cable while standing on a water board, and is safe for even children to enjoy. If you haven’t already had an opportunity to try out this sport, instructors will be there to guide you through the ins and outs of cable skiing. But if you’re already well-acquainted with cable skiing, try out their obstacles to get a little extra adrenaline rush!
No worries if you’ve already planned your entire morning and afternoon- the wake park is open until 10pm, so you can cable ski even at night with the help of the surrounding floodlights. Experience this thrilling sport in a lagoon situated in East Coast Park, accessible by bus and cab from Capri by Fraser, Changi City!
Take bus 47 from Opposite Changi City Point or bus 12 from Expo Halls 4/5/6, or take a 17-min drive from Capri by Fraser, Changi City.
Cable skiing isn’t the only water sport you can enjoy in the East of Singapore- at Adventure Paddlers, you can choose from their programs or rent water sports equipment for a lively day at the beach. Activities such as A Trail of Nature, which brings kayakers on a tour around Pulau Ubin, are great for exploring Singapore from the waters, and are available for booking.
Alternatively, if you prefer a more free-and-easy program, you can rent their water sports equipment, which includes equipment such as sea cycles and water trampolines. Grab a group of friends and head to Pasir Ris Beach for a splashing good time!
Take the Downtown Line to Tampines, change to the East-West Line and ride to the end to Pasir Ris MRT Station, or drive for 18 min from Capri by Fraser, Changi City.
For those wanting a different experience from the normal tourist attractions in Singapore, challenge yourself with these thrilling options! With these options perfect for an escape from the city, you can sure to feel refreshed and recharged from your vacation in Singapore.
